From frustration, to dreams, to speculation, to diving in headfirst. Here's a little bit about how we came to be.
Clothing makes up such a huge part of our identity, how others see us and how we see ourselves. Child of God Apparel was birthed out of two frustrations I had. The first being the lack of clothing options available to me. I could either find clothes I liked or being a larger gentleman, clothes that fit, rarely both. The second frustration I had was, the only clothes I could find that represented my faith and fit me, were pun shirts or just super cringey.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good pun shirt, my wardrobe boasts a few, partly because I think they're funny, partly out of necessity. You can expect to see some pun shirts come through the store from time to time. However, my intention in starting this brand is threefold, to give glory to God, to create clothes I would like to wear and, where possible, offer as many sizing options as possible.
I realised early on in my walk with God, that I needed to be all in, 100% in everything I did. Part of the way I outworked this was how I dressed. I recognized that clothing made up a large part of my identity, I wanted an external change to represent what was happening internally. To my disappointment there was slim pickings, and seeing as I needed 4XL or bigger, the options were even less. However, I did my best to embrace the Christian pun shirt life, and I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it for the most part. I still however, longed for something more subtle, something with more meaning, something more stylish. That frustration birthed a dream, which has led me here.
It's my hope, that as I design clothes I want to wear, that you would find something not only to wear, but to help cement your identity as a child of God.
